The story starts here.

This is going to be some kind of journal about my life in Betsy, some days I might fill it in or maybe I will leave it for a while, don't fancy setting myself any rules, just as and when the fancy takes me.
Betsy by the way is my long awaited camper van, don't start getting yourselves all excited thinking that I am now the proud owner of a VW Split Screen with pop up roof, (one should NEVER stop dreaming). No!! I am very pleased to say  that I, well actually technically we, but I sounds far more superior. I am the very proud owner of a Fiat Ducato Reimo M reg camper van, no doubt there will be a few hiccups along the way bearing in mind her age, Green Flag services will come into the own but who cares, we have everything on board, what does it matter how long your stuck for, draw the curtains put the kettle on and you could be just about anywhere, you can even make up the bed and have a nap.

Thursday March 3rd 2011 at 10.30am we go to collect Betsy, she was gleaming from ear to ear after having a full  wash and polish throughout. We had a quick run through as to how everything worked, bought a gas bottle and electric hookup and then made our way home. Mr Poo took the first leg and then I took over, "Oh my god, what have I done" It was like driving an attic lorry home compared to my little beloved Nissan Micra that I have just traded in for this beast.

Betsy and my grandson Leo, who had been jumping up and down in the van shouting,
"Go on Nan and Grandad by an RV"

Once home it was time to make her mine. I had already made new curtains and cushion covers and most of the kitchen stuff etc I had been collecting for about a year, nearly every room in the house had some bag, box or pile of something that was for Betsy. I was beginning to panic and thought it might not all fit in but surprisingly she is rather like a tardis and now that everything is away, there's still plenty of empty space, so very chuffed with that.

Our first Overnighter

Possibly should have been a romantic evening for two but instead it was a party for four. It was my son's best mate's birthday (19th) and they wanted to spend the evening with us. So Mr Poo and I set off after lunch, got to where we were staying for the night, bascially a field at the back of a garden centre but with electirc hook up, very handy for plugging the little heater in. I prepared dinner "Vietnamese Chicken Curry" followed by a Chocolate Key Lime Pie, which I had made in the morning. The boys arrived just in time for dinner. A merry night was had by all, music, cards and lots of laughs. The boys slept in the tent, while Mr Poo and I snuggled up in the toasty warm van and didn't wake till about 9am.

Happy Birthday LEB

Our second one nighter

We had arranged to meet Dominque and Richard some friends of ours, well they are now, it was Mr Poo's first time meeting them. My eldest son calls them Dick and Dom, which I always find funny but I call them Dom and Dickey.

We met at Fairlight caravan club site near Hastings, the weather was stunning, we had lunch when we arrived, home made soup and bread, then off for a long walk through the woods with the dogs, the light was gorgeous through the trees.

I think it was about 4.30ish when we joined Dom and Dickey in their caravan, we had nibbles followed by Sea Bass and very yummy dauphinose potatoes that were cooked in a saucepan, (Dom, I need that recipe written down please). I had brought a white chocolate and raspberry tart which I made at home in the morning. We also managed to consume cheese and biscuits. We laughed for hours, is was a great night.
